Define Service Occupation

OBJECTIVE

The Define Service Occupation option is a complement to the Define Work Categories – Payroll option. The system allows you to create service occupation categories specific to the service calls module so that you can group certain occupation categories for invoicing purposes. You can enter amounts (cost and selling prices) that will be used as costs for service calls and in invoicing.

 

Steps

Create a service occupation

  1. Enter the required information in the Main Fields tab:

 

The Configuration icon is used to define entry options for the Code field.

Field

Description

Code

Occupation category number.

Description

Description of the code.

Cost

Cost amount (to include fringe benefits) for regular, overtime or double time. These amounts are used to enter a cost amount as project expenses if the fixed cost method is used.

NOTE: The choice of the hourly rate depends on the settings for each employee. The system respects the following order, using the first rate that is not 0:

  • Cost from the employee record in the Service Management module.
  • Cost from the occupation category in the Service Management module.
  • Cost from the employee record in Project Management.
  • Cost from the occupation category in Project Management.
  • Hourly rate from the employee record multiplied by the percentage of fringe benefits in Project Management.
  • Hourly rate from the occupation category multiplied by the percentage of fringe benefits in Project Management;
  • The average cost calculated by Payroll.
  • The hourly rate from the employee record.

Selling

Selling amount (including fringe benefits and the desired profit) used to reinvoice labour amounts.

NOTE: The choice of the selling hourly rate depends on the invoicing method (activity or occupation category). The system respects the following order if the invoicing method is by Activity:

  • The selling rate is entered in Define Activities.
  • The selling rate is entered in the Invoicing Rate Table.
  • The selling rate is entered in Configuration.
  • The selling rate is entered in the Invoicing Rate Table.
  • The selling rate is entered in Define Occupation Categories.
  1. Click Save.
